Wind Power Wednesday Photo of the Day – February 14, 2018

This is our first 7minutesolar Photo of The Day: POTD. Wednesdays will be Wind Power photos (like today) and the weekend will have the Solar Sundays POTD.

The POTDs are a photographs that capture an aspect of the new energy revolution with accompanying information from the photographer and links to more of their work. If you know of a photographer (maybe even you!) that has a great shot of solar installations or wind farms or anything broadly related to new energy, let us know by using the contact form at the bottom of this page.

This dramatic photograph was taken by Dimitry Anikin of VIenna, Austria. You can see the high resolution image on the photography site Unsplash.

It was taken near the small town of Mistelbach in the Austrian State of Lower Austria, not far from the Czech border. I myself live in Vienna, and try to explore landscapes around and nearby the city. What caught my eye about the scene was the impressive size of these wind turbines, and the dramatic lighting created by the passing clouds.

And speaking of wind turbines in Europe, you may want to read this article, in New Europe: Austria on track to reach its 2020 target for renewable energy:

Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič noted that this positive decision reflects the new reality – the EU’s resolute transition to clean energy. “Austria in particular is well on track to reach its 2020 target for renewable energy. These are precisely the steps we need in order to pave the way to a swift implementation of the Paris agreement,” he said.
