$9 adjustment can make solar panels 17% more efficient

Mega Sunergy’s release of a new “multi shingled array module” 315W solar panel design sounds like pretty complex engineering, especially when the company claims it can  increases the efficiency of a standard solar panel by up to 17%.

What it actually means is that instead of laying out 60 individual solar cells on a panel with small identical spaces between them, they have overlapped the cells to cram 68 onto the same size panel.

But however one wants to describe it, the method does increase the efficiency of the panel, reducing costs and speeding investment payback, which is really want everyone wants.
